To secure your reservation, a deposit payment is required. The deposit amount is an approximate 25% of the total of your reservation total. The deposit is not refundable if you are to cancel your reservation. Be sure to read our Rental Policies before booking. You will find the Rental Policies link located at the bottom of the website.
What is NOT included in the reservation and what is included?
No toiletry items such as shampoo or body soaps are provided. A hairdryer is also not included. Bed linens ARE included. The kitchen is equipped with coffee maker, toaster, stove, oven, microwave, pots and pans, utensils, and plates. I would suggest bringing paper towels, coffee filters if you drink coffee, and charcoal for The Plaid Loon and Peaceful Waters Cottages if you plan on grilling outside, and any condiments you think you need for cooking.
Can we bring our own boat and is there parking for the boat trailer?
Yes, many of our guests bring their own boat. For The Plaid Loon and Peaceful Waters Cottages, you can park your boat trailer at the overflow parking spots next to the volleyball court on the east side of the Pickerel Lake Road. For the Lake Escape Cottage and Northern Nook Home, trailer needs to be parked in front of the garage and to the very right of the road to allow other vehicles to pass in order to get to the other properties down at the shoreline.
Is fishing any good at Pickerel Lake? And what kind of fish can you catch at this lake?
We think fishing is GREAT here at Pickerel Lake. Most of our guests come for the fishing. For the various types of fish that are available at this lake, click here for more info: Pickerel Lake in Oneida County
Can we get a fishing license at your location?
Unfortunately, not at this time. You can obtain a fishing license at Saint Germain Sport Marine shop located in town.
How to buy firewood and bait on site?
Because Oneida county encourages guests to not spread pest related diseases across county lines, please buy firewood in Oneida county. We no longer sell bait on site.
Is there a fish cleaning facility on site?
Unfortunately, there isn't a fish cleaning building for the Northern Nook or The Lake Escape Cottage. There is, however, a picnic table with access to running water located between the Northern Nook home and the Lake Escape cottage that fish cleaning tasks are allowed. Guests staying at these 2 particular properties are not allowed to trespass over to Loon's Landing Condominium to clean their catch.
The Plaid Loon and Peaceful Waters Cottages are located at Loon's Landing Condominium and they have a fish cleaning house facility that guests renting these 2 particular cottages may use.
What else is there to do on Pickerel Lake besides fishing? Do you have a sandy beach area? Because half of the shoreline is bordering the state forest, this makes Pickerel lake a very quiet lake with lots of wildlife. During summer months, many guests have enjoyed birdwatching, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, water skiing, swimming and/or riding out on the water with the paddle boat. Unfortunately, we do not have a sandy beach.
